One of the clearest signs of a stroke is a sudden loss of strength or sensation on one side of the body—typically in the face, arm, or leg. A person may wake up and find it difficult to lift an arm, walk properly, or control facial muscles. The face may appear uneven when smiling, or one arm may drift downward when raised.
Many people mistakenly assume this is caused by sleeping in a bad position or simple fatigue. However, sudden weakness is a serious red flag and should never be ignored. Immediate medical help is essential.
2. Difficulty Speaking or Understanding Speech
If a person suddenly begins to slur their words, struggles to form sentences, or has trouble understanding simple instructions, this could indicate that the brain areas responsible for communication are being affected.
Family members might notice that the person sounds confused, speaks slowly, or uses incorrect words. Even brief speech problems can be an early sign of a stroke. Any sudden change in communication should be treated as a medical emergency.
3. Loss of Balance or Sudden Dizziness
